The Shalita New Sandia Pro is a handcrafted professional oboe reed offering a warm tone with slightly more open response than the Black Label Pro. Made by Joseph Shalita, Principal Oboist of the State of Mexico Symphony Orchestra since 2004, in the direct tradition of Marcel Tabuteau and the Philadelphia oboe school.
Playing Characteristics Resistance: Medium. Opening: Medium to slightly open. More immediate response than the Black Label Pro while maintaining professional tone quality. A good choice for players who want a professional reed with a more flexible feel.
Who It's For Professional oboists and advanced students who prefer a more open, responsive reed. Players performing solo repertoire, chamber music, or orchestral work who want a warm, centered tone with easy response.
Who It's Not For Beginning and intermediate players. If you're still developing embouchure control start with the Mimosa Student or Red Label Intermediate and work up.

Not a factory reed. Hand-scraped to specification.
